Step 1

Start the switching process early. If you expect your old email address to be deactivated at some point in time; it's best to start the process of switching addresses early. Try to start the process a minimum of two weeks before you expect your email address to be deactivated. This will give you enough time to completely transition from your old email to your new email without missing any important messages.

Step 2

Make a list of where you need to change your address. If you've had your email address for any length of time, you've probably given it out to any number of people and web sites. This includes:

* Email lists

* Online accounts (for online banking, bill paying services, etc

* Membership profiles (forums, message boards, directories)

* Web site

* Business cards

* Resumes

Step 3

Start changing you email address on all the places you listed.

Step 4

Use your new address for any new contacts. Once you've gotten your new email address set up, start using it for any new mailing list subscriptions or membership profiles you sign up for from now on. If someone asks you for your email address, be sure to give out the new one instead of the old one.

Step 5

If you are using a web-based email system like Gmail or Hotmail, transfer your old emails and address book contacts to your new service. If you are using a desktop based system like Outlook, Apple Mail, or Eudora, you can skip this step, but be sure to set up your new account so you can receive your email from your new service.

Step 6

Announce your new email address to your contacts. Once your new email address is up and running, send out an email to all of the people you have in your address book and tell them that you have a new email address and ask for everyone to update their address books.

i did that too but i tried to change my email right now and i could not change it, so i guess your myspace is safe... unless the person is really good with computers.

you got to change your email address on your account on myspace to the new email address. then you have to check your email (from the old email address) and get the conformation thing. and then i think you have to confirm it on the new email to.
