I had a myspace, but I deleted it because some of my friends told me that it causes viruses. Is that true?

MySpace itself doesn't cause viruses. Any website can cause them but that's only if you're logging in on a site that isn't really the one you think you're visiting. There are a lot of fake MySpace sites that steal your information though so you do need to make sure you're really visiting MySpace. I know that some websites where you get a layout or generate a code for, say, a contact table or comment box will say you can auto-post the code to your profile but I myself won't do it. May sound a bit easier but it's not like it's that hard to copy it and paste it where I want it.
From my personal experience I haven't had any viruses caused by MySpace and I've had my account for well over two years. I'm not saying I didn't have any viruses at all but they were due to me thinking I could view a video I knew deep down didn't really exist and getting a little too click-happy. All in all, the surefire way to make sure you don't get viruses is to have a good anti-virus program such as McAfee or Norton installed, make sure you're visiting the site you're trying to log into and don't just click on pop-ups to get rid of them. Hope I helped!

no,
a lot of people say myspace causes viruses, but it really doesn't.
it can cause pop-ups and ads which can cause viruses if you're dumb enough to click on them, but myspace itself does not cause any viruses at all.
on the internet it always better never to download anything, so even though myspace doesn't cause viruses it doesn't mean that pop-ups and ads on myspace don't so never click or download anything unless you're sure its not a fake.

Their loaded with malware! Last week I was converting files and had my antivirus turned off and my daughter went on myspace for 30 mins and played jeopardy, darts and a couple others and infected me with the worst true virus Ive seen in a long time! Id wipe one OS and reinstall a new one with new drivers and everything and it kept coming back? I'm finally clean again and running in a virtual environment? It's ok to go on to chat but stay away from any fancy apps on either site (^.^)

MySpace itself does not cause viruses. People that custom make their profile might be able to find a loop-hole and cause a virus to be installed, though.

Not that I'm aware of. There are a lot of spammers and things on there, if you fall for that and go to one of those sites, then you may get something. But MySpace itself does it's best to prevent your computer from getting anything. Hence the Captcha images and whatnot.

Any website can if you click on suspicious links, or anything your friends send you.
There have been many spoofs, spyware, and viruses usually embedded in the games, cute pictures and other links you may receive from friend comments.
Otherwise all by itself, it does no have or cause viruses.

every website can cause viruses -I had 52 main viruses on my computer -to check if you have a virus go to http://www.microsoft.com/security/malwareremove/default.mspx -they check how many viruses you have for free -and even delete the less harmful ones, but if you have critical viruses they charge you a fee

I think we had two trojans when we started out, and then it was fine--which speculates it might not have been from Myspace at all.

No. Only if you're gullible and ignorant. And you click on the spam links that say "FREE TRACKER!! OMG YOU CAN FINALLY SEE WHO VIEWS YOUR PROFILE!!!!!1111!!!!" or "Did you know your pics are on (so and so) Omg click them to see!" etc. etc. etc.
Or if you ignorantly click on the advertisements. (Like omg you've one 1000000 dollars. click here to claim.)
Basically, to use myspace and be safe in anyway, you have to have basic common sense. if anyone doesn't have it, they shouldn't be on myspace, or even the computer in general.

Of course, any website can. Just be wary of the pages/websites you visit, and you'll be fine.
